particularities

The Stöckigtsberg is the highest mountain of the Scherbdaer Platte , a part of the Muschelkalkplatte of the northern Ringgau cut off by the valley of the Schnellmannshausen brook . So far, the mountain has been mainly used for agriculture; a quarry was built on its northern edge in the early 1990s, which has since been considerably expanded several times. The slopes to the west of the Stöckigtsberg are forested.

Old boundary stones, mostly with the letters KP and SWE , mark the state border between the former Ganerbschaft Treffurt (from 1815 completely to the Kingdom of Prussia ) and the Creuzburg office of the Duchy of Saxony-Eisenach . From the Stöckigtsberg you have a beautiful view of the heights of the eastern Ringgau up to the Hainich .
