The Stříbrný potok (German Black Schlippe or Schlippwasser ) is a left tributary of the Vidnavka ( Schlippe ) in the Okres Jeseník in the Czech Republic .

Location and course

The stream rises north of the Dreigrenzpass ( Przełęcz u Trzech Granic ) on the Smrk ( Ficht , 1127 m nm) in the Reichensteiner Mountains . The springs of the Biała Lądecka , Staříč and Branná rivers are also nearby .

On its upper reaches, the Stříbrný potok ( Weißgrundbach ) flows - initially parallel to the Biała Lądecka - through the deep, wooded Stříbrné údolí ( Weißgrundbach ), west of the Klínový vrch ( Great Wedge , 891 m nm) and the Kovadlina / Kowadło ( Schmiedekoppe , 989 m nm) and east of the Stříbrný vrch ( Silberberg , 907 m nm) and the Velký hřbet (749 m nm) to the north. The site got its name from the silver mines that used to operate here. East of the Sedlo Peklo ( Hell's Saddle ), over which a path once led to Bielendorf , or south of the Chlum ( Fleischersteine , 776 m nm), the Stříbrný potok takes an easterly direction for a short section. Subsequently, the stream forming a gorge and crashes into the Nyznerovske vodopády ( Schlippengefälle ) in several cascades over 14 m down. At the end of the falls, the Stříbrný potok joins the Bučínský potok ( Schwarzgrundbach ); From this section on, the brook used to be called the Schwarze Schlippe or Schlippenwasser .

The first buildings in the upper Schlippengrund are the Kamenná and Na Samotě Heger houses. Then the Stříbrný potok leaves the Reichenstein Mountains and reaches the Žulovská pahorkatina ( Friedeberger Hills ), where the village of Nýznerov stretches along the stream . Here the Kerbtal widens more and more. The lower course leads west past Hadí vrch ( Salberg , 422 m nm) to Žulová , where the Stříbrný potok flows into the Vidnavka after 13.5 km at the northern foot of the castle hill .

In 1977 the project of a small dam above the waterfalls arose.
