The Střední Opava (German Mitteloppa ) is the middle source river of the Opava in the Czech Republic.

course

The Střední Opava rises on the western slope of the Sokol (1186 m) on a ridge of the main ridge leading from Malý Děd (1355 m) to Praděd (1491 m) in several source streams, which unite in a basin at 929 m above sea level. The stream runs through a deeply carved wooded valley in which the villages of Vidly and Bílý Potok are initially to the northeast. Then the Střední Opava turns to the east and flows over Na Výsluní to Železná, where it joins the Bílá Opava to the Opava on the northwestern outskirts of Vrbno pod Pradědem .

The Živá voda fountain is opposite the confluence of the Skalní potok. To the north of Bílý Potok are the desert castles Weisenštejn and Rabenštejn. The Zámecká hora (854 m) with the remains of the Fürstenwalde castle rises above the confluence with the Bílá Opava . From the Hegerhaus Vidly, the Střední Opava is navigable on the lower nine kilometers when the water level is over 40 cm.
