St-Etienne (Cambronne-lès-Clermont)
The Church of St-Étienne is a Romanesque parish church in the parish of Cambronne-lès-Clermont in the Oise department of the Hauts-de-France region , built before 1145. The church has been a listed building ( Monument historique ) since 1875 .
history
The Church of Cambronne-les-Clermont, St. Stephen consecrated , must have been built before 1145, because this year it is in a document mentioned. The south aisle and the choir were consecrated in 1239 after their reconstruction.
architecture
Exterior construction
The lower part of the west facade dates from the 12th century and the upper part was renewed in the 13th century. The facade has a round-arched portal with a tympanum filled with diamond-shaped motifs. The window above it is with a diamond frieze decorated.
Only the north side dates from the 12th century. It has arched windows and a cornice . The upper clad windows are also arched.
The bell tower above the crossing has two octagonal floors, which are crowned by a stone spire.
inner space
The four jochige ship was vaulted later and at the same time that were pillars templates added on the pillars and walls. During the reconstruction in the 13th century, the arcades of the south aisle were raised. The pillars have capitals in the form of foliage, leaves or palmettes. The arched upper clad windows open in the axis of the arcades.
