St-Fursy (Lagny-sur-Marne)
The church Saint-Fursy in Lagny-sur-Marne , a French commune in the Seine-et-Marne in the region Ile-de-France , was originally built in the 10th century. The remains of the secular church on the Place de la Fontaine have been classified as Monument historique since 1982 .
history
The church, consecrated to St. Fursa , was first handed down as a parish church in the 10th century . At the end of the 12th century it was rebuilt in the Gothic style and changed in the 16th century. During the Revolution , in 1796, it was sold to a private buyer who had the choir , bell tower and parts of the nave demolished. Today only the entrance facade and three bays of the nave are preserved. Human figures, animals, leaves and fruits can be seen carved in stone on the Gothic portal arches . At the end of the 20th century, the facade was restored by the owner, the municipality of Lagny.
