The Catholic chapel Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens (Eng. St. Peter in chains ) in Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne , a town in the Seine-et-Marne department of the Île-de-France region , was in the second half built in the 12th century. The chapel, at no. 10 rue du Peintre Sisley located, since 1914 is a protected monument ( monument historique ).

history

The chapel is the only surviving building of the former Benedictine priory , which was officially closed in 1747. The chapel was used as a pilgrimage chapel until the French Revolution .

architecture

The three-aisled building with a semicircular choir , which is located outside the city ​​fortifications , is structured on the outer walls by buttresses . The arched openings are provided with leaded glass windows. The portal on its south side has simple archivolts .

The chapel, which is now owned by the city, is used for exhibitions.
