The Evangelical Lutheran St. Lamberti Church is a half-timbered church in Nahrendorf in the district of Lüneburg in Lower Saxony .

location

The St. Lamberti Church is located in the historic center of Nahrendorf. It is located on a small meadow surrounded by a stone wall. The associated cemetery is located at the southeast exit of the village.

history

The St. Lamberti Church is mentioned for the first time in 1271 in documents from the St. Michaelis Monastery in Lüneburg . It is believed, however, that the foundation stone of the original stone church was laid in the 11th or 12th century.

The church was often the victim of church thieves and therefore had to be extensively renovated in 1589. The old stone tower was demolished in 1731 and replaced by a new one.

The church contained a half-timbered tower, a rectangular nave and a retracted choir room and partly had a masonry made of field stones . Due to storm damage, the old church had to be completely demolished in 1771.

The construction of a new church began immediately after the demolition. The half-timbered church was built according to plans by the architect Schwarzkopf and inaugurated on February 13, 1774.

In 1817 the cemetery was moved from the churchyard to the outskirts.

In 1988 the church was renovated, giving it its present form. The church tower was renovated in 1999.

architecture

The St. Lamberti Church is a half-timbered church consisting of a three-story west tower , a nave and a three-sided choir. The framework contains an infill made of red bricks . The foundation of the church is made of field stone masonry. A clock tower is attached directly under the roof on the south side of the church tower. The main entrance to the church is on the south side of the nave.

The interior is a U-shaped gallery with wooden supports in three ships divided. The central nave is vaulted by a slightly pressed wooden barrel.

Furnishing

The St. Lamberti Church has a baptismal angel who carries the baptismal bowl. It comes from the turn of the 17th to the 18th century. The baptismal bowl was donated by the sexton at the time as early as 1646.

The church tower clock from JF Weule from Bockenem, which was installed in 1892, is wound twice a week.

The pulpit of the pulpit altar is entered through the sacristy . The predella shows a painting of the Last Supper . There is a larger crucifix to the left of the altar wall .

The organ in the gallery was installed at the end of the 19th century. It is no longer playable because the floor of the gallery has sagged.
