The Catholic parish church of St. Agatha and Markus is located in Zaiertshofen , a district of the municipality of Kettershausen in the Unterallgäu district ( Bavaria ). The church is a listed building.

history

The church, incorporated in Roggenburg Abbey in 1398, was demolished in 1935, with the exception of the church tower from around 1500, despite being enlarged several times. The new building by Robert Pfaud from Augsburg was inaugurated on July 21, 1937.

Building description

The church building rises up on the cemetery in the middle of the village, consisting of a modern hall with a flat-closing choir . The lower sides adjoin the north side of the nave . The sacristy is an extension between the choir and the church tower, which is free-standing on three sides . The late Gothic church tower is square and has no structure. There is a groin vault on the ground floor of the church tower . The top floor has pairs of arched sound openings with a common support in the middle. The church tower and the sacristy are covered with a transverse gable roof.

Furnishing

The three altars are from 1937 and show paintings from Munich with Reiser , respectively. The table-shaped high altar was installed in the church in 1967. The winged altar from 1937 has been on the north wall of the choir ever since. There are several wooden figures in the church . On the end of the choir wall there is a large crucifix from the first half of the 17th century, the arms of which were later added, a Pietà from around 1510/1520, St. Sebastian from the early 18th century and St. Eligius from the middle of the 18th century. A crucifix, created around 1700, is placed in the confessional chapel. The figures of St. Agatha and Mark, which are in the sacristy, date from the first quarter of the 17th century . These are attributed to Christoph Rodt. There is also a life-size bust of a Man of Sorrows in the sacristy. This was created around 1700. In the oratory there is a figure of St. Mark from the middle of the 18th century and a resurrection savior from around 1720, as well as a lecture cross from the 17th or 18th century. The small crucifix in the oratory dates from around 1700. In a niche in the cemetery gate there is a dungeon savior from the early 18th century.
