The Catholic parish church of St. Bartholomew is located in Egg an der Günz in the Unterallgäu district in Bavaria . The parish church is a listed building.

history

The origin of the parish church goes back to the 15th century. In 1873 the church was rebuilt and renewed. This conversion mainly affected the nave. Another restoration took place in 1956.

Building description

The nave of the parish church has a flat roof and four window axes. This is followed by the drawn-in choir on two axes. The choir is closed with a 5/8 ending. The front of the choir has two buttresses with water hammer . In the front wall of the choir there is a depressed ox eye . The church tower is located in the southern choir corner . This is unarticulated and with a gable roof covered. Three-part sound arcades are located on the upper floor of the church tower. The tower basement has a star-shaped ridge vault.

Furnishing

Most of the furnishings date from 1873. The baptismal font is a marbled wooden structure and dates from the end of the 18th century. The elliptical baptismal font is located on an Ionic column stump. On the lid of the baptismal font is the group of figures of the baptism of Christ . On the choir arch there is an epitaph inscription from 1698. The lay stalls with rocaille cartouches were created around 1770/80. A memorial plaque for those who fell from 1805 to 1815 is placed in the parish church made from Solnhofen limestone .
