The Church of St. Birgitta is a Roman Catholic parish church of the Archdiocese of Munich-Freising in Unterhaching . It is located in the residential area "Fasanenpark" and bears the patronage of Saint Birgitta of Sweden .

history

With the construction of the new "Fasanenpark" housing estate in the north of Unterhaching from 1966, planning for a third Catholic church in the village began. In 1971 the church building on Parkstrasse was consecrated by Julius Cardinal Döpfner . St. Birgitta of Sweden is chosen as the patronage, also because the mother parish bears the patronage of St. Alto and the choice of name for both churches could refer to the pilgrimage church of St. Alto and Birgitta in Altomünster .

Building description

The towerless church building rises above a square floor plan and is set back from the street. The resulting forecourt is framed by other buildings belonging to the parish.

The altar is on the opposite end wall and the only windows are four large skylights in the center of the flat ceiling, divided by concrete coffers.
