St. Boniface

The Protestant village church St. Bonifatius is located in the Altenbeichlingen district of the city of Kölleda in the Sömmerda district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish area Kölleda in Kirchenkreis Eisleben-Sömmerda the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

The village church was built from 1897 to 1898 in the neo-Gothic style. The plans came from the architect Friedrich Fahro and had already been drawn up and carried out five years earlier for the Luther Church in Bad Kösen . St. Boniface is a listed building . The natural stone of the previous building was also used for the brick- built historicist church , about which - apart from the old Bonifatius - patronage - nothing else has been handed down.

In 2014 the church won the Foundation for the Preservation of Church Monuments in Germany (KiBa Foundation) in February. So far the church has been funded as follows:

  • The KiBa Foundation donated 30,000 euros in 2011.
  • In the summer of 2013 donations totaling 55,000 euros were made available.

The renovation of the roof is expected to cost 220,000 euros.

Furnishing

The interior has a ribbed vault made of bricks. Ceilings, walls and arches are colored with ornaments and characters. The altar, the baptismal font with its basin and the pulpit are made of limestone with marble and decorated with colored mosaic inlays. The wooden parts are also decorated.

organ

The organ of St. Bonifatius was built in 1898 by Ernst Röver (Hausneindorf). It comprises 18 stops on two manuals (C – f 3 ) and pedal (C – d 1 ). The tone and stop action are pneumatic . The instrument was restored between 1996 and 1999 by Hartmut Schüßler / Thomas Wolf (Greiz).
