St. Cosmae et Damiani at Hassel
St. Cosmae et Damiani zu Hassel is an Evangelical Lutheran church in Hassel (Weser) in the Lower Saxon municipality of Grafschaft Hoya ( district of Nienburg / Weser ). It is named after the martyrs Cosmas and Damian , who are venerated as saints . The church was first mentioned in a document in 929.
description
The vaulted brick hall with a west tower made of mighty sandstone blocks dates from the 12th / 13th centuries. Century and the two-bay nave with the western choir bay , which carries small arched windows , probably from the 12th century. The eastern yoke was probably added at the end of the 13th century. Inside are the remains of a decorative painting from the beginning of the 13th century, while the galleries are dated to the year 1618. The polygonal pulpit was donated in 1620. Two carved figures of the church patron date from the beginning of the 16th century. On which the church surrounding churchyard there are grave stones since the end of the 16th century.
