St. Cosmas and Damian (bees)
The Catholic parish church of St. Cosmas and Damian is a listed church building in Bienen , a district of Rees in the Kleve district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). Initially the church was dedicated to Saint Lambertus.
History and architecture
The formerly dedicated to St. Lambertus church was first mentioned in a document in 1298. The three-aisled pseudo - basilica of three bays was built in several construction phases. The choir with a 3/8 end is one yoke. Ribbed vaults were drawn into the church . The basement of the three-storey west tower made of tuff stone dates from the 12th century. The brick addition is late Gothic . A brick reinforcement was added to the west side of the tower in 1857. The lintel of the portal in the north aisle is marked 1514.
Furnishing
- An eight-sided basin of a late Gothic sandstone baptismal font
- Three wooden sculptures from the Lower Rhine , from which the socket has been removed, are stained dark. The Mother of God and the Holy. Apolonia are from the late 15th century, the Hl. Rochus from the early 16th century
window
- The windows were created in 1990/91 by the glass artist Joachim Klos .
