St. John in Pentling

The Catholic Church of St. Johannes is on Schulstrasse in the municipality of Pentling in the Upper Palatinate district of Regensburg .

history

In today's church, older components were probably included. In its current form, it dates from the 16th century. It was rebuilt in 1697 and changed several times over the years. The most extensive intervention in the historical structure was in 1931 with the construction of the new nave, whereby part of the nave of the old church remained and is now used as a choir . The church was a branch church of the parish churchprüfunging , later it became part of the church in Ziegetsdorf and is now integrated in the association of the pastoral care unit St. Paul .

Church building

The church is a rectangular complex. The brick tower is made of bricks and ends with a one-step stepped gable. The year 1789 can be seen above the sound arcade.

In the sacristy is the Emmeram monastery coat of arms with the coat of arms of Blasius Baumgartner .

Furnishing

The high altar was made around 1900, the side altars around 1931. The votive picture donated by the Obermünster women's monastery dates from 1742. The glass paintings from 1931 are by the Regensburg glass painter Schwarzmayer.

organ

The organ is the former interim organ of the Herz Jesu in Regensburg. It was built in 1930 as op. 461 by Willibald Siemann and rebuilt in 1960 by Eduard Hirnschrodt . The disposition of the instrument with pneumatic action is:

Manual C – f 3

2. Salicional 8th'
3. Covered 8th'
4th octave 4 ′
5. mixture

chapel

A chapel belongs to the church, which is located on the main street. The almost completely round building dates from 1649. In the small baroque altar from the 17th century there is a Madonna from the first half of the 15th century, which is provided with an unsuitable frame. Two figures from the 18th century are placed alongside.
