St. Johannes Baptist (Dietratried)
The branch church of St. Johannes Baptist is located in the district of Dietratried near Wolfertschwenden and bears the patronage of John the Baptist .
history
St. Johannes Baptist, first mentioned in 1167, was formerly a branch church of Woringen . The village of Dietratried was sold to the Ottobeuren monastery by its owner at the time, Diepold Zwicker . However, the incorporation of the church in Ottobeuren did not take place until 1699. The branch church was last renovated between 1992 and 1995. The nave still has a Romanesque core, but the choir is late Gothic . The branch church of St. Johannes Baptist is now a listed building.
Furnishing
The high altar panel shows the crucifixion scene and was created at the end of the 17th century. On the right of the high altar is a late Gothic figure of Judas Thaddäus , on the left the figure of Our Lady . The figures of St. Catherine and St. Barbara are located on volute consoles on the two side altars . Both figures were created around 1480/1490 in Ulrich Mair's workshop in Kempten . The angel figures, which are attached above both side altars, were created around 1706 by Matthäus Zick from Ottobeuren . The ceiling fresco was created in 1913 and shows the baptism of Jesus Christ. It bears the signature Gebr. Haugg 1913 .
