The church is registered under number 26 in the list of monuments of the municipality of Titz .

history

A church already existed in Rödingen in the early Middle Ages . The lowest storey of the tower is still preserved from this church and dates from the 12th century. The late Gothic upper floor of the bell tower dates from the 15th century and the baroque dome was erected in 1708. The old nave was demolished in the 1850s as it was probably too small for the growing village population. From 1856 to 1858, a new, three-aisled hall church in neo-Gothic form was built on the tower according to plans by the Aachen architect Johann Peter Cremer . As an example, the church was St. Paul in Aachen .

Furnishing

inside view

The historical altar of the Roman Catholic parish church of St. Kornelius is an Antwerp carved altar. This high altar was made around 1510 to 1520 and was taken over from the old church. The altar received its current appearance through numerous modifications in the 19th century.

The almost 500-year-old altar appears in new splendor after a two-year restoration until April 2018.

There are also two neo-Gothic side altars and a neo-Gothic choir stalls in the church .

The Way of the Cross from the time the church was built has also been preserved.

The new windows in the choir and a small window in the baptismal font below the tower were made by Franz Pauli in 1960.
