Architecture and history

The church was built in the baroque era in 1708 in place of a late Romanesque predecessor. The church tower to the west of the nave has been preserved from the previous building. The floor plan of the tower is rectangular and oriented across the ship. The ship presents itself as a hall structure on a rectangular floor plan. To the north of the nave there is a simply designed addition of a sacristy and a vestibule.

The inside of the church is spanned by a wooden barrel ceiling. Both the altar and the pulpit are decorated with acanthus and date from the time the nave was built . The altar has a predella tablet below a more recent Last Supper painting from around 1850 . To the side of this are on the one hand Peter and on the other hand Paul between rotated columns. Above a cranked cornice adorned with angel heads is a painting depicting the crucifixion. The octagonal picture is framed by acanthus work. A sculpture depicting the risen Christ is placed above it.

The pulpit is carried by a figure representing Moses. On the parapet of the pulpit, the evangelists are depicted in shell niches located between twisted columns. The Archangel Michael is shown above the portal leading to the pulpit.

The organ front is designed in the Baroque style and dates from 1746. In the church there is an inscription tombstone for PM Nathan, who died in 1667.

From 2003 to 2006 the church was extensively renovated.

In the local register of monuments , the church is listed as an architectural monument under registration number 094 11969 .
