St. Maria Magdalena (Seubersdorf)

Seubersdorf, St. Maria Magdalena

St. Maria Magdalena is an Evangelical Lutheran church named after Maria Magdalena in Seubersdorf ( Deanery Ansbach ).

In 1297 a local chapel is attested, over which the Würzburg family von Tanneberg had the patronage. It is unclear when the chapel was converted into a fortified church. The church has a three-storey choir tower with an eight-sided pointed helmet (east) with a pointed roof hall (west) and sacristy (north) and is surrounded by a wall including the cemetery. A thorough renovation in the style of the peasant baroque was carried out around 1705 by the Ansbach margrave. The interior furnishings (double gallery, pulpit, baptismal font, choir stalls, nave stalls, vestry cupboard) also date from this time. In 1960 the interior was renovated.

Originally, St. Maria Magdalena was a branch of St. Andreas (Dietenhofen) . Around 1820 St. Martin (Kleinhaslach) , also a branch of St. Andreas, formed a parish with St. Maria Magdalena. The services were held alternately in the churches. On December 19, 1842, St. Martin (Kleinhaslach) was elevated to a parish with St. Maria Magdalena as a branch. At a later point in time, he switched to St. Andreas, whose branch it is still today. The parish currently has 100 parishioners.
