Sankt Maria Rosenkranzkönigin is a Roman Catholic chapel in the Sankt Augustinian district of Meindorf in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It is a branch church of St. Augustine in Menden and thus belongs to the Catholic pastoral care area of St. Augustine in the Rhein-Sieg district dean of the Archdiocese of Cologne . The chapel was completed in 1912.

history

Meindorf has been part of the parish in Menden since the Middle Ages. It has not yet been established whether the town had its own chapel at that time, but documents from the Vicariate General in Cologne indicate this. At the beginning of the 20th century, the construction of today's chapel began, for this purpose the residents founded a chapel building association in 1905. The foundation stone was laid in July 1911 and the inauguration took place in April 1912. The first renovations took place in the 1930s and 40s, and in 1951 the windows that had been destroyed in the war were replaced. The alteration of the chancel in line with the Second Vatican Council took place in 1972.

The church is single-nave with a transept and a separate choir. It also has a roof turret in neo-Gothic design . The chapel is protected as an architectural monument.

Furnishing

The three bells date from 1992, the organ from 1959. Some of the furnishings date from the time the chapel was built, for example a monstrance , the Stations of the Cross and an icon of the Help of Mary.
