The Protestant parish church of St. Maria and Anna in Wörnitzostheim , a district of the municipality of Alerheim in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries , was built in the Middle Ages . The church in the walled cemetery is a protected architectural monument .

history

The first mention of a church in Wörnitzostheim comes from 1399. The right of patronage lay with the Oettingen house . The tower substructure was probably built around 1200. The current nave was built at the end of the 17th century. In 1825, the polygonal structure of the tower was restored after the collapse .

architecture

In the basement of the tower is the choir , which has a flat roof. Remains of loopholes can still be seen on the choir tower . On the southern side there is a pointed arch window with tracery in the form of a quatrefoil and a round window above it. The tower is crowned by an eight-sided pointed helmet .

A round choir arch separates the choir from the flat-roofed nave. The gallery is to the west and the arched portal to the south .
