description

In 1250 the construction of the hall church with three naves and the church tower begins. The south aisle was completed in 1354 and the central nave was completed in 1377. The broad nave has an almost square floor plan . The central nave is slightly transversely rectangular, the side aisles are longitudinally rectangular, the large rectangular choir approximates the square. The four- storey tower is covered with a pyramidal roof that is continued in a lantern . The nave is covered with a gable roof made of Solling panels. The red plastered exterior is structured by protruding buttresses , slender, pointed windows and simply profiled cornices . During the renovation in 1886, the tracery windows with fish bubbles were replaced by simple early Gothic tracery windows . On the north and east side of the choir are burial chambers of the local nobility: among others von Münchhausen from the 17th century and von Mengersen dated 1711. The baptismal font from 1590 comes from Mante Pelkinck, the lid is hung on the vault . In the choir hangs a picture of Jesus' Last Supper from 1590. An altarpiece in the south aisle shows portraits of Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon .
