St. Mary's (Ostramondra)
The Protestant Church of St. Mary is in the community of Ostramondra in the Sömmerda district in Thuringia .
history
St. Marien was built and consecrated as a Protestant castle church from 1711 to 1712. Rudolf von Bünau is named as the client , but he died in 1609. The hall church built from quarry stones with a western nave and a straight western end has a slate-covered saddle roof with a western half hip and a narrow choir tower adjoining it to the east with a baroque slate-covered dome . The eastern church tower probably comes from the early Gothic construction period. Before that there was a chapel on the property . The church received a baroque organ from 1742 to 1744 , which was restored from 2005 to 2006.
The house of God was built and decorated in baroque opulence, which can be seen in the organ, baptismal angel , altar and the biblical wall and ceiling paintings .
