History and equipment

The village church is first mentioned in 831 as the property of the Pfäfers monastery . Its name goes back to the national saint of the Franks , St. Martin .

The church building shows different ages. The lower part of the tower dates back to the Romanesque era. The nave and choir are dated to 1512; they are based on older buildings. The bell chamber was built in 1704 in two stages. The filigree onion dome was installed in 1868 parallel to an interior renovation. In 2016, the belfry in the tower, which like the cemetery, unlike the church, belongs to the political community.

Two epitaphs can be seen on the choir walls inside the church . The polygonal pulpit dates from 1645 after the end of the Bündner turmoil .

In 1998 Flims hosted the Graubünden Synod for the last time with the Martinskirche .
