History and architecture

St. Martin

The core of the vaulted , three-aisled brick basilica is the central nave , which was built as a single-nave chapel in the second quarter of the 15th century . Around 1500 the north aisle was added and the west tower was added. The south aisle was added in 1850. The three-story tower is accompanied by a polygonal stair tower . The tower is divided by pointed arches and was closed with a slate pyramid in the 18th century. The cross-rib vaulted tower hall is open in large pointed arches to the central nave. Above this was the west window of the original chapel building, which is now walled up. On the central nave is the choir with a 5/8 end. The old sacristy on the north aisle, in the form of a polygonal closed choir, is currently used as a baptistery . The church was restored until 1953 after being damaged in World War II .
