St. Martin (Kirchgandern)
The Catholic village church of St. Martin is in the municipality of Kirchgandern in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .
history
The baptismal font in the church was created according to a sculpted evidence 1376th Thus, it carries the first evidence of the church in the village and was most likely in the previous building. In 1686 the still standing church was built. In 1691 the altar panel was added. The pulpit was built in 1692 . The consecration by Auxiliary Bishop Johann Daniel Gudenus from Erfurt took place in 1692. The pulpit from 1770 was a subsequent change. This also applies to the sculptures from the 18th and 19th centuries. They are: Mary with the Child and the Sorrowful Mary as a mosaic .
In 1930 the parish carried out an extension in the eastern part. It was consecrated on September 19, 1933 by Bishop Petrus Legge from Meissen .
The bell was made by the Schilling company in Apolda in 1952 .
In 1980 the congregation visually expanded Catholic history with the image of Christ on the Mount of Olives. The pulpit and the basket were also restored. In 1999 the church was painted.
In 2019 the interior of the church was renovated.
