history

A church in Ralingen was first mentioned in a document in 1236. Originally the Ralinger Church was a Romanesque building, which was built around 1150. This church was rebuilt for the first time in 1522. Another renovation was added in 1822. The largest intervention in the church, however, happened in 1895 and 1896 under the direction of the Luxembourg architect JP Knepper. The Romanesque east tower was demolished and a new transept with a new choir was built in its place. In the west, the west tower was added to the old nave. These renovations were carried out in the neo-Romanesque style . Today the church is a single-nave hall with a west tower, transept and choir.

Furnishing

The neo-Romanesque high altar and the ambo deserve special mention. The ambo was created from parts of a tombstone created in 1517.

A stone relief from 1637 shows the division of the mantle of St. Martin of Tours (parish patron).
