St. Mauritius (Niedergrunstedt)
The village church of St. Mauritius is in the Niedergrunstedt district of the city of Weimar in Thuringia . It belongs to the Buchfart-Legefeld parish association in the Weimar parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The center of the former village is determined by the village church , the former parish and school , the old brewery and bakery .
history
In 1707 the village church and 40 houses were badly damaged by a fire. In 1726 the new baroque building began, incorporating structural elements dating back to the 12th century. The church tower was given a hood , the nave a mansard roof and large windows. The interior was generously designed with galleries , pulpit altar and wooden ceiling and painted in 1728 by the artist Johannes Ernst Rentsch with biblical pictures and flower ornaments.
Organ and bells
- The organ on the second gallery was created in 1876 by August Witzmann from Stadtilm and installed.
- Three chilled cast iron bells date from 1920 and 1922.
