The Roman Catholic Expositurkirche St. Michael in the district of Etterzhausen of the market Nittendorf in the Upper Palatinate district of Regensburg of Bavaria (Kirchbergstrasse 9) was built in 1937/38.

history

In 1937 the new building of the church in Etterzhausen was planned by the Regensburg theology professor Michael Waldmann , and in 1938 the foundation stone was laid. The church was built in 1937/38 under the direction of the architect Franz Günthner. On September 5, 1948 the church by Bishop was Michael Buchberger ordained .

The church has its own Lady Chapel with a wood-carved Madonna in a halo. The flight of the Holy Family to Egypt is also shown here.

In 1977 the interior of the St. Michael church was restored (electrical installation, elevation of the chancel, seating in the Marienkapelle). In 1980 the exterior renovation of the church was carried out; the building was newly plastered, the church roof was re-covered, a bell tower was built, a tower clock was installed, four new bells and a carillon with 52 songs (plus eight other small bells) were installed. In 1992 the rectory was renovated and a new organ was inaugurated at Pentecost 1999, which replaced the Weise organ .

Michael Waldmann donated his house near the church as a parsonage. The property was donated by the Wetzel family for the construction of the church and a cemetery.

description

The church is a stilted hall building with a hipped gable roof . The flank tower is covered with a pyramid roof.

The church was painted by the Regensburg church painter Winkler (subjects are the expulsion from paradise , the handing over of the keys to Peter and the Last Judgment in the apse ). In the church, the stained glass windows with Christ's Way of the Cross are noteworthy. In the choir there is a wood-carved Sacred Heart statue. Next to the baptismal font is an icon of St. Michael by the Romanian icon painters Gavril and Mihai Morosan.

In May / June 2002 the Romanian orthodox fresco painter Grigorie Popescu created a fresco in the Marienkapelle in the old style. The baby Jesus in the center of the picture lies on the arms of Mary, both of which are surrounded by a halo of the sun; the moon at their feet indicates the "great sign in the sky" of the Apocalypse .

Bells

Four ring bells with the tone sequence c 2 –e 2 –g 2 –a 2 (277 kg, 146 kg, 86 kg and 64 kg) are in the tower. They are part of a total of 12-part carillon , which was donated by the Glockenspiel initiative group and carried out under the auspices of the Heimerl family. All bells were cast together with the new bell equipment in 1980 by the Perner bell foundry in Passau . The songs can be played from the organ table ; there are also 52 automatically playable songs.
