Etterzhausen is a district of the market Nittendorf in the district of Regensburg .

history

The name Etterzhausen can be traced for the first time between 863 and 885 in the spelling "Eidrateshus"; an earlier settlement is to be assumed based on excavation finds.

The name of the place has been subject to various changes in the course of history, but only "Etterzhausen" has been used since the end of the 14th century. Over the centuries Etterzhausen was repeatedly completely or partially destroyed by acts of war. In the Thirty Years War in 1632 the village was destroyed along with the castle and the Naab Bridge , which had only been built a good forty years earlier . Bavarian troops were responsible for this, who had occupied the city in April 1632 during the fighting for Regensburg (1632–1634) and wanted to make it difficult for the Swedes approaching from Nuremberg to reach the Bavarian city of Stadtamhof on the north bank across from Regensburg. It was not until the beginning of November 1633 that a Swedish vanguard from Kelheim reached the crossing over the Naab near Etterzhausen, rebuilt the destroyed bridge and used it to approach Regensburg.

From 1878–1884 Gotthold Mendelssohn-Bartholdy , a grandson of Abraham Mendelssohn Bartholdy , was mayor. On July 1, 1972, the place was incorporated into Nittendorf. Until 1982 the boarding school and elementary school of the Regensburger Domspatzen were located here .

Not far from the village is the Löweneck castle stable .

Etterzhausen is a popular destination. The location in the Naab Valley and the proximity to the city of Regensburg have also prompted many people to settle in Etterzhausen.

Until it was blown up in 2010, the Felstortunnel was located near Etterzhausen , with a length of only 16 meters it was the shortest railway tunnel in Germany.
