The Catholic Church of St. Nicholas is the parish church of Alba Ching . It dates from the transition from Rococo to Classicism .

History and equipment

The original Gothic altar house was extended by Mathias Rösler and Matthias Egger with a new nave in 1790 . Originally there was a tower on the south side , but it was destroyed by lightning in 1798 and replaced by a new building by Gustav Vorherr on the west side of the church from 1811 to 1812 . From 1995 to 1998, the interior of the church was renovated, restoring its classicistic appearance.

The frescoes in the interior were created by the electoral court painter Christian Wink . Particularly noteworthy is the dome fresco over the nave with St. Nicholas as advocate . The frescoes are drawn with "Christ Wink pictor aulicus Monnachii pinxit 1791 et 1792". Wink's cousin Johann Adam was involved.
