The Roman Catholic Church of St. Nikolaus is located in Lucherberg , a district of the municipality of Inden in the Düren district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

history

In 1533 a chapel is mentioned in Lucherberg . However, further details are not known. The chapel was part of the parish of Pier with today's parish of St. Peter (Merken) . It was canceled in 1857.

Only when the first diocese of Aachen was established in 1804 did Lucherberg appear as a parish in the canton of Düren .

In the years 1857/1858 a new building was built according to plans by master builder Heinrich Kelleter. This church was partially badly destroyed in the air raids on Düren and Jülich during World War II. According to plans by Alfons Leitl and Paul Bernert (Mönchengladbach- Rheydt ), the church was rebuilt in 1948. The rebuilt church was on August 11, 1951 consecrated . The altar was consecrated on the same day .

On January 9, 2017, the church was closed until further notice. Due to the formation of cracks, this measure was necessary for safety reasons.
