The chapel

The Catholic Chapel of St. Mariae Regine Pacis is a small sacred building in the hamlet of Viehöven in the municipality of Inden in the Düren district , North Rhine-Westphalia . It belongs to the parish of St. Barbara Schophoven .

The foundation stone for the chapel was laid on August 9, 1874 . The financial means were raised through a donation . Since the donation was higher than the construction costs, the sovereign permit had to be obtained, which was then also granted by Kaiser Wilhelm I. The chapel was dedicated to the Mother of God as Queen of Peace .

In World War I , there was no damage to the building. It was different in World War II , where considerable damage was recorded because the American troops had created a Rur crossing here . It was not until 1974 that the chapel was renovated by private individuals on their own initiative.

The chapel was entered on March 5, 1986 under No. 38 in the list of architectural monuments in Inden (Rhineland) .
