Schophoven [spoken: Schopphoven] is a northeastern part of Inden in the Düren district , North Rhine-Westphalia . Around 900 people currently live here.

location

The Rur flows on the eastern and northern outskirts and in the immediate vicinity is the Inden / Jülich / Niederzier community triangle . The Schophoven sewage treatment plant is located north of the village . The Schlichbach, which used to flow through the town from Pier, flows into the Rur near Schophoven. Due to the Inden opencast mine, the core town of Inden / Altdorf can only be reached from Schophoven via the Düren district of Merken . It is therefore a functional exclave .

history

Schophoven is first mentioned in a document in 1306. The noblemen of Molenark (Müllenark) were first mentioned in the 12th century. Presumably, the settlement of Schophoven is closely related to Gut Müllenark (means: weir at the mill). A grain mill and a brewery belonged to the estate . From 1917 the Dürener Metallwerke (manufacturer of duralumin ) were owners. Today the estate belongs to Rheinbraun AG, today RWE Power .

To the west of Schophoven is the hamlet of Viehöven , which is said to have been founded by the Counts of Jülich. In 1859, today's parish church of St. Barbara was built opposite the Barbara Chapel.

On January 1, 1972, Schophoven was incorporated into Inden.

future

In contrast to the neighboring pier , Schophoven will not fall victim to open- cast lignite mining . Schophoven is expected to be separated from the main town of Inden / Altdorf between 2015 and 2030 by the Inden opencast mine . A large building area was developed on the outskirts of Schophoven. Some of the residents of the neighboring village of Pier have settled there and built new ones. The other part moved or moved to Pier near Langerwehe or settled in Inden / Altdorf at the so-called Waagmühle.

traffic

Schophoven cannot be reached via major country or federal roads. Only district roads lead to the place. The B 56 (Düren-Jülich) passes about a kilometer away .

The next junctions are "Düren" on the A 4 and "Jülich-West" on the A 44 . Buses of the Düren district railway connect Schophoven with the line 216 from Inden via pier to Düren . BVR line 294 , coming from Jülich, connects Schophoven with Pier, Lucherberg , Lamersdorf , Inden, Frenz and Eschweiler . The next station on the Jülich – Düren railway line is “Selgersdorf”.

Others

In 2005 and 2006, the through-town was rebuilt after the canal had previously been renewed. Because of the large new building area, the sewer collector had to be relocated and made larger.

In 1999 the new fire station of fire fighting group 6 of the Inden volunteer fire brigade was inaugurated.
