The Protestant parish church of St. Nikolaus in Untermagerbein , a district of the Mönchsdeggingen community in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries , was built in the Middle Ages . The church in the walled cemetery on the southern edge of the village is a protected architectural monument .

history

The first mention of a church in Unterermagerbein comes from 1355. The right of patronage originally belonged to the Oettingen family and came to the Mönchsdeggingen monastery around 1366 . The tower substructure dates from the first half of the 14th century. In the nave , the two eastern windows from around 1400 have been preserved. The tower structure from the second half of the 16th century shows the year 1587 in the coat of arms on the east side. In 1732 the nave was extended by an axis and the gallery was built in here.

architecture

The choir in the basement of the tower has a groin vault . A pointed choir arch separates the choir from the flat-roofed nave. The windows are arched, they were renewed during the renovation in the 18th century. In the west is the arched portal .

The square tower, of a pitched roof covered, has four levels and a belt cornice in the middle. In the lower area are still loopholes to be seen. Over the southern and northern arch fries are coupled , round-arched sound openings .
