St. Pankratius (Frieding)

description
The choir and the massive tower, which is covered with a gable roof, date back to the late medieval construction period of the church. The simple hall construction with a retracted choir has a baroque barrel vault with stitch caps . In 1975, when the north wall of the nave was excavated, a rectangular extension was added.
The altar made of different parts was brought here from other churches around 1800. The tabernacle shrine consists of four rotatable reliquary boxes . The altar sculptures of St. Benedict and St. Scholastics are works by the Weilheim sculptor Franz Xaver Schmädl . The two carved busts of Peter and Paul come from the high baroque interior of the church, which was built around 1720.
The sculpture ensemble shows a group of lamentations with Mary and John under the crucified Christ with a chandelier setting typical for the time .
