St. Peter and Paul (Rustenfelde)
The Catholic Church of St. Peter and Paul is located in the Rustenfelde community in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .
history
This village church was first mentioned in 1570 . Local red sandstone was added to the church tower of the church in 1569 and 1740 . The new nave is now a four-axis hall building with a five-sided choir closure . The barrel vault is made of wood. The church walls are provided with ashlar corner blocks. The portal is on the south wall and bears the carved date 1907/08. During this period the church was extended by a ship's yoke and the choir to the east and the sacristy was added. The church also has a sundial .
The square west tower has a copper-clad, drawn-in bell projectile . Above it rises the tail cap with a lantern , a gold-plated sphere and a weather vane .
After the political change
Restoration work began. The windows got new lead glazing . The electrical system was also modernized and a bench heater was installed. The mechanical tower clock has been overhauled. The hall of the church received new thermal insulation and much more.
