St. Peter and Paul (Hemmerde)
The Catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul is a listed church building in Hemmerde , a district of Unna in the Unna district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).
History and architecture
The building was built from 1823 to 1833 under the direction of the agricultural inspector Philipp Leonhard Pistor based on a type design of the Oberbaudeputation in Berlin. It is a classical hall building with a choir closed on three sides . The west tower is built in. The church was badly damaged in World War II and rebuilt by 1948. The interior is spanned by a wooden barrel vault.
Furnishing
- A high altar made of sandstone and marble from around 1630. It is attributed to Gerhard Gröninger and comes from the Werler parish church . It was damaged during the war and restored from 1952 to 1954 and re- focus . The column retable is richly decorated with figures. In the middle part the crucifixion of Christ is shown; the reliefs on the predella represent the Last Supper and the miracle of Pentecost. The side niches are inclined, the extension protrudes in the middle.
- The side altars are provided with applied panels . One is the Lamentation of Mary from the beginning of the 18th century, the other is the raising of Lazarus from 1630.
- The four-part cast steel bell sounds in f sharp'-a'-h'-c sharp "and was cast in the late 1940s.
