History and architecture
The community was mentioned in 1231. The two-bay hall with an almost square, little indented choir was built in the first half of the 13th century in place of a previous building. The west tower crowned with a pointed helmet is presented, in the north there is an extension. According to a dendrochronological study, the roof was renewed in 1575. The patron s lodge was added in 1663, the tower was renewed in 1706. A sacristy was added in 1878. The south portal with an ashlar frame is marked 1575, the walls are divided by large arched windows. The Romanesque tympanum with a dove frame built into the northern extension is decorated with two coats of arms from Oeynhausen. These are labeled 1663. The name 1710 is located above a walled-up opening in the east wall. The small square opening in the choir is called the plague window . The buttresses on the west side were added later.
In the interior, domed groin vaults rest on rectangular templates and profiled fighters. The choir arch has a constricting effect. The low tower hall is opened to the ship by a pointed arch. The middle keystone is decorated with the coat of arms of Oeynhausen. The room version of the 16th century was uncovered and supplemented from 1970 to 1971.
