St. Rita in Schmidsreute

The Roman Catholic St. Rita Chapel is located in Schmidsreute , a district of Wiggensbach in the Oberallgäu district ( Bavaria ). The chapel, a new building from the years 1948 to 1950, is a listed building and bears the patronage of St. Rita of Cascia . It was built on the site of an abandoned chapel.

Some of the furnishings come from the abandoned chapel in Schwarzachen near Wiggensbach. The wooden figures of Saint Rita and Saint Sebastian date from around 1510/1520, and around 1470 the figure of Anna herself was created. The crucifixion group with the figures of Mary and John is baroque . The wooden figures of St. Dominic and St. Catherine of Siena date from the early 18th century . The dungeon christ is from the late 18th century. The figure of the Evangelist John from the second half of the 17th century.
