The Catholic parish church of St. Sebastianus in Dorsel , a local community in the district of Ahrweiler ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), was built in the Middle Ages and is dedicated to St. Consecrated to Sebastian . The church is a protected monument .

history

The first evidence of a church in Dorsel is from 1316. The medieval tower still preserved today, with a wall more than two meters thick, could also have been used as a defense tower . The tower has a low, sharply bent roof.

The nave was built in the 20th century and is connected to the old tower. The flat ceiling is beveled on the sides. The row of abstract lead glass windows on the south side give the interior a colorful light.

Furnishing

The main altar , a Marian altar, and the two side altars date from around 1700. The baptismal font made of basalt lava , partially embedded in the south tower wall, is said to date from the 13th century.
