history

The tower of the St. Simon and Jude Church was built in 1615/17; in 1810 the nave followed .

The high altar was made in the year after designs by Johann Philipp Preiß and comes from the Bildhausen monastery . The carvings are by Michael Rieß (a temporary employee of the leading Würzburg sculptor Johann Philipp Preuss at the time ) and Johann Ammon, the altar panel depicting the Assumption of Mary is probably by Johann Melchior Schöffer.

Both side altars were created around 1730 and were moved from St. Stephen's Church in Würzburg to the Unterelsbach Church.
