St. Stefan in Zusamaltheim

The Catholic branch church St. Stefan in Sontheim , a district of the community of Zusamaltheim in the Swabian district of Dillingen an der Donau , was built in the middle of the 18th century. The church at Kirchplatz 2 is a protected architectural monument .

History and architecture

The St. The church consecrated to Stefan was built in 1755 by Ignaz Paulus . The flat-roofed hall has a retracted, semicircular closed choir . The square tower in the south is covered by a pyramid helmet.

Furnishing

Frescoes by Matthias Kuen , from the time the church was built, decorate the interior. The dispute between St. Stephen and the scribes is depicted in the choir; scenes from the life and stoning of the saint can be seen in the nave .

The high altar was created by Joseph Rothmiller in 1855 . The pulpit is also attributed to Rothmiller. The side altars were created around 1870.
