history

The church in Wolfertschwenden was built in its present form in essential parts in the 15th century. The core of the tower is likely to be older. In 1713 the church was restored. During this time the windows and the choir vault were changed. At the end of the 18th century, in 1773 and 1774, the church was restored again.

Building description

The plastered church has a retracted choir with two window axes and a 3/8 end. The choir arch was originally ogival and was rounded off in the 18th century. The nave contains four window axes with a flat ceiling. The gallery in the west stands on marbled wooden columns. The undivided tower is covered with a gable roof. The sacristy is built on the east side. The entrance to the church leads through a porch with a gable roof. A mount of olives scene is located above the entrance. The coat of arms of the Ottobeuren monastery under Abbot Honorat Göhl (1767–1802) and the coat of arms of Abbot Anselm Erb (1740–1767) are attached to the dial on the east side of the church tower .
