The St. Wendel zum Stein nature reserve is located in the municipality of Dörzbach in Hohenlohekreis in Baden-Württemberg .

Characteristics

The protected area was created on December 18, 1979 by ordinance of the Stuttgart regional council with the protected area number 1082. This ordinance was published in the law gazette for Baden-Württemberg on February 14, 1980 and came into force thereafter. The CDDA code is 82494 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

location

The area is around 1000 meters southeast of Dörzbach along the Jagst and includes the rock face, the Jagst with bank areas below and the Klebwald above. It is completely enclosed by the landscape protection area no. 1.26.029 Jagsttal with side valleys and adjacent areas between the Schwäbisch Hall district boundary and the Krautheim / Schöntal community boundary . It also belongs to the FFH area No. 6623-341 Jagsttal Dörzbach-Krautheim and partly also to the EU bird sanctuary 6624-401 Jagst with side valleys . The area is located in the natural area of 126 Kocher-Jagst Plains within the main natural unit of 12 Neckar and Tauber-Gäuplatten .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is the preservation of the hillside terrain in its scenic diversity, uniqueness and beauty with its magnificent rock formations made of limestone tuff and the natural, rich forest vegetation, as well as the preservation of the area with rocks, caves and chapels because of its geographical and cultural importance.
