The church of St. Wendelinus and Hubertus in Elmsteiner district Speyerbrunn is a Catholic church built in 1932.

Originally, the service was celebrated in a hall of the Speyerbrunn school building.

In 1931, the Mannheim church builder Josef Kuld began planning a sandstone church with onion domes .

Took place in May of 1932 by the Speyer Bishop Ludwig Sebastian , the foundation stone was laid , the construction was carried out by the company Heinrich Landenbeck from Elmstein. Local craftsmen were brought in to expand and equip the church. On November 27, 1932, it was consecrated by Bishop Sebastian in the name of Saints Wendelinus and Hubertus .

The little church saved the faithful from Speyerbrunn, Mückenwiese , Erlenbach and Schwarzbach the lavish Sunday footpath to the Church of the Visitation of Mary in Elmstein.

The church has been a listed building since 1997 .

Building the Church

The standing stone church has a single nave with an octagonal choir and a 20 meter high tower, the dome of which is designed in a simple down-to-earth baroque style. The church has 150 seats and 100 standing places. The interior of the church has been redesigned several times.

Naming

The name is intended to commemorate the special importance of the patron saints in the region, as hunting and agriculture have taken on a high priority. Wendelinus is considered the patron saint of farmers, shepherds and shepherds, Hubertus protected u. a. the hunters, riflemen and butchers.
