St. Wolfgang

The listed Protestant village church of St. Wolfgang is in the Heubach district of the Masserberg community in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

The village church was built during the Thirty Years' War from 1623 to 1624 . The village of Heubach and thus the village church were on the former military and trade route from Nuremberg to Erfurt .

The original framework has been covered by roofing slate for about 150 years . The church has two galleries . Opposite the altar is the organ , which was installed by the organ builder Schmidt from Schmiedefeld in the early 1840s . It replaced an organ made by Johann Christian Dotzauer from 1755–1757. The baroque pulpit is integrated, adapted to the house.

In 1995 the exterior facade was thoroughly renewed and the spire was gilded. The hatchet was also attached as a symbol of the patron saint.
