The stadium Voždovac ( Serbian - Cyrillic Стадион Вождовац ) is the football stadium of the Serbian football club FK Voždovac , which is located in the old town of the capital Belgrade , more precisely in the district of Voždovac . This is a unique property, especially because the stadium is on the roof of a shopping mall called the Stadion Shopping Center . As the largest shopping center in Southeast Europe and the first of its kind in Europe, it is a new and sought-after tourist attraction in the Serbian capital. The stadium is nicknamed Zmajevo gnezdo (German: the dragon's nest)
history
Between 2011 and 2013, a new shopping center was built in the Voždovac district of Belgrade . The project was realized by the Austrian real estate developer " Krammer & Wagner & Illmaier ", with a total of 50 million euros invested in the construction of the building complex. The area on which the current structure was erected was previously the club's old stadium, which was built in 1912 and demolished in 2011. The current stadium was in line with the economic, social and environmental standards of the UEFA built. Its capacity is projected for around 5,200 spectators and is 40 meters above the surface of the earth , which makes it unique in Europe. In September 2012, the German company Polytan equipped the playing field with the most modern artificial turf , the LigaTurf RS Pro CoolPlus .
