The stadium an der Kinderlehre is a football stadium in the Rhineland-Palatinate municipality of Enkenbach-Alsenborn , Kaiserslautern district , in the Palatinate .
Location and facilities
The stadium at the Kinderlehre is located on the northern outskirts of Alsenborn. The capacity is now 13,000 seats. Up until the renovation of the facility, there were around 300 covered seats in the main stand. It was demolished in 2018 and 2019 and replaced by a modern grandstand. In the course of this renovation work, the speaker's tower and the standing bars that could be found on the back straight were removed. The renovation and preservation of these striking buildings were financially impossible. The playing area consists of natural grass . The stadium has a floodlight system and a side square. In front of the entrance is a memorial stone for the former national player Fritz Walter , who lived in Alsenborn.
history
The facility was opened in 1932. The name Kinderlehre comes from a former field name . Where the stadium stands today used to be a swampy meadow with irrigation ditches running through it. These trenches were called Kändeln in the local dialect ; the word "Kändel-Erde" is said to have developed into "Kinderl-Ehre" or "Kinderlehre". The audience capacity was initially 8,000. After the SV Alsenborn rose three times in a row and in 1965 reached the then second-class Regionalliga Südwest , the stadium at the Kinderlehre was expanded to 10,000 seats. In 1968, 1969 and 1970 the Alsenborner were each champion of the Regionalliga Südwest.
For the games in the promotion round to the Bundesliga, SV Alsenborn moved to the Südweststadion in Ludwigshafen am Rhein . In 1974, the Alsenborn team was able to qualify for the newly created 2nd Bundesliga . In order to also meet the technical requirements, the children's apprenticeship was expanded to 16,000 places. The playing area was fenced in, the standing stands were modernized and it was decided to expand the main grandstand to 1,050 covered seats. Nevertheless, SV Alsenborn received no license from the German Football Association , from which 1. FC Saarbrücken benefited.
