The city ​​dean of Bonn is one of 15 dean's offices in the Archdiocese of Cologne and comprises 11 pastoral care areas with a total of 25 parishes .

The pastoral care areas coincide with the area of ​​the city of Bonn ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) with one exception: Rolandswerth , the northernmost district of the city of Remagen in the district of Ahrweiler ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), is part of the parish of St. Martin and St. Severin in the pastoral care area Bad Godesberg also to the Dean's Office Bonn.

Reorganization 2017

In the course of the reorganization of the deaneries in the Archdiocese of Cologne on January 1, 2017, the deaneries of Bonn-Bad Godesberg, Bonn-Beuel, Bonn-Nord and Bonn-Mitte / Süd were also dissolved, as the parishes were merged into pastoral care areas and large parishes Structures had changed. The deans of the dissolved deaneries welcomed the decision. The tasks of these deaneries were transferred to the city deanery, which belongs to the pastoral district south in the Archdiocese of Cologne.

The acting city dean has been Wolfgang Picken since 2019.

Community association

The parishes belonging to the deanery have come together in accordance with the regulations to form a community association that is legally competent as a public corporation.
