Bocholt City Museum
Stadtmuseum Bocholt is a museum for history , art and culture in Bocholt . It opened in 1992 . The Osterstr. 66 in the Art Deco style is a listed building . It marks the location of the former Easter gate of the Bocholt fortification ring.
The following areas can be found on the four floors:
- Basement : origin and geology of the Aa valley; Prehistoric and early historical settlement through the Stone Age , Bronze Age and Iron Age , early Middle Ages under the influence of the Franks and Saxons ; Bocholt during the Middle Ages , industrialization , National Socialism and the Second World War .
- Ground floor: Economic and social history of the 20th century using the example of the company A. Friedr. Flender Public Company ; Special exhibitions.
- Upper floor: Works by the copper engraver Israhel van Meckenem jun. († 1503), the glass painter Jan van Lintelo (approx. 1570, † 1631/32) and the set designer Josef Fenneker (1895–1956)
- Top floor: Aspects of the historical everyday world, such as blacksmithing and weaving as well as historical children's toys.
The exhibits include finds from excavations carried out by the Bocholt Archaeological Group in cooperation with the Westphalian Museum of Archeology.
